Planning a kid’s bedroom design can be a lot of fun. It can also be a daunting task as you tackle the issue of storage and making things easy to clean. Here are a few ideas about kid’s bedroom design.

If the room is for just one child, choosing a single bed is the normal choice. If you have two kids sharing one room, bunk beds are the most practical choice. They save a lot of room since you don’t have to allocate two big chunks of space for beds. Most bunk beds also separate into two beds, so you have additional options as time goes on. There are many beds that have an option of storage underneath in the form of drawers. Under bed drawers can also take the place of an upright dresser, which can help with small spaces.

Storage is usually a huge issue in kid’s bedroom design. A nice big toy box is a staple of any kid’s bedroom. Look for one that is of sturdy construction and has a lid. You want to be able to hide that jumble of toys away. For those little toys that have a tendency to get lost in the bottom of the toy box, purchase small, clear, plastic boxes with lids. Label them with a picture so your child knows exactly what goes in each box. This makes clean up a breeze.

If you do not want to use a dresser to house your child’s clothes, try buying some coordinating baskets with liners. You can fill them with socks, underwear, pajamas, and pants. These baskets can be placed on a shelf in the closet for easy access, and all their clothes can be contained in one place. Shoes can be delegated to a special box in the closet or you can by a cloth shoe organizer to hang on the closet door or the bedroom door.

When planning a kid’s bedroom design, consult with the child that will be living in it. If they love their room, they will be more likely to keep it clean. That means less mess for Mom to deal with! Ask them what color they want their walls, then give them a choice between two different shades that are acceptable to you. Take them shopping for accessories with you, and listen to their ideas. Remember, it is their room and they have to live with the results.

A cute idea in kid’s bedroom design is to spell out the child’s name in wooden letters on the wall. You can find them at many stores in all different colors and styles. This is a great way to personalize their room. Kids also love mirrors. Hang a full length mirror in their room so they can see what they look like. You can paint the frame to match your decor. Putting family pictures around the room is also a big hit, especially if your child is in a lot of them. It is also a good way to reinforce names and relationships of family members.

There are many ways to plan a kid’s bedroom design. Make it a fun place to be that reflects your child’s taste and personality.

You see i have a small bedroom and stil live with my mom for a few more years. im 17 so do you think i am the only 17 year old with a bunk bid? I realy want to get this because my room is small and i have loads of electronics and desks. i was thinking if i got this i know i would have LOTS of more room but do you think this is okay for a 17 year old? Please friendly comments only .
But i…like spongbob lol jk Well no my room is in red and black :) thanks so collage people use these?! Ahh i feel much better now!

Wow yeah il have to remember that because sometimes when my dog barks i throw myself awake with a jolt and i may bump my head a few times.
Thanks donna! Wow i hope mine lasts long! Lol its going to be my boyfriend that helps me make mine :D
There are lots of people that have bunk beds in college. Now if the bed has sponge bob, then that’s probably not for a 17 year old…

I want to add some stuff to a 12 year olds room but she has a bunk bed with a futon underneath. She wants a queen bed because its to hard to make her bed currently. So how could I get her to like her room without changing beds??

It was the Christmas of 1977, I was 9 years old, and my older brother got an air hockey table from Santa. We were just at the age when we were pretty sure that we knew the truth about Santa Claus and were determined to stay up and catch him in the act. We lived in a tri-level house, and my brother’s room was on the first floor, right by the entry way and the family room. He had bunk beds, so I slept downstairs in his room with plans not to sleep that night. We laid in our beds and chatted excitedly but quietly (Christmas Eve is not the time to get in trouble, just in case Santa was real!) Every now and then we would quietly open the door and sneak up the stairs to peak into the living room. But always it was the same, quiet and no change. It was going to be a long night.

I guess we must have fallen asleep, though I still don’t remember actually sleeping. It was around 4:30 in the morning when Matthew and I snuck out of the room. We crept upstairs, and sure enough, Santa had been there while we were sleeping! Santa always brought us one present each, and we easily located my gift and the gifts for our two little sisters, but nothing for Matthew. As we went back down to Matthew’s room, we spotted something in the Family Room. Yes, and air hockey table–we were so excited!

My parents always had a rule on Christmas morning. We could get up early and play with our Santa gift, but we had to wait until 8:00 before we could wake them up. So here it was, about 4:30 or 5:00 in the morning, and Matthew and I were playing air hockey and having a blast! But my mom’s memory of it isn’t as fun. It just so happened that our parent’s room was on the third floor, right above the family room (typical tri-story house layout), and of course, the heating vent ran right from the family room to their bedroom. So Mom and Dad had been up late and were trying to finally get some sleep, and all they can hear is a clickity-click-click-click! Needless to say, we were sent back to bed and had to wait to play until later.

But that air hockey table was the most popular and memorable Christmas gift of all time, one that I still remember more than any other. It provided hours of family fun. As kids we would hold tournaments, and the more neighbor kids involved, the better. Our home was always one where everyeone hung out anyhow, so the air hockey table was an added bonus. We probably didn’t play with official rules, but we had a lot of fun, making up our own rules and games as only a child can. But  unlike child’s toys, there was no age limit to those who enjoyed playing, and the game never got old because new opponents brought on new challenges.

For great family time, air hockey tables can’t be beat. I know that it brought us hours of fun when I was growing up, and brought us together as a family. Plus, we still enjoy the air hockey table with the telling of the story, and laugh at Matthew and I playing very early on Christmas morning and waking up our parents with a clickity-clack!
