We just bought a used bunk bed and removed the bottom bunk. The bed is very loose and moves a lot (since it needs the support of the bottom bunk). what is a good way to give it the support it needs?

Use 2 x 8’s to create horizontal bracing in the same location where you removed the bottom bunk. Have you thought about putting in a built-in desk under the top bed? It helps stabilize the top bunk and is a great use of space!

Good luck!

I live in Texas and I am trying to find out the limitations or laws about adults and children residing in the same bedroom. If the kids are on bunk beds and then the parents. Is there a law saying that is illegal?
I am sorry i ment to say the kids have bunkbeds and the parents have their own bed!

I don’t think there ARE laws. If so, just about every efficiency apartment in NYC would be in violation.

ok, i have 3 kids. Two girls and a boy. I am trying to find a bed for my girls to sleep in.My 3 1/2 yr old sleeps in the bed with us, my 16 month old sleeps in her room in her playpen.(she won’t sleep in crib) I don’t have a lot of space in their room(moving them into one room). i was thinking bunk beds with the staircase, but then i decided not to, cause my 3 1/2 yr old likes to jump off things and teaching her little sister. well what about a full size bed? do u think they will sleep in the same bed all night? The bad thing is, they go to bed at different times. any suggestions??? if you have 2 kids of same sex and don’t have much space..how do u have their sleeping arrangements. just curious on how other household does? My oldest already has a twin bed, she just doesn’t sleep in it!!
i have 3 kids, my lil guy is a newborn and wont need his own room for awhile, but i would like to go ahead and move the girls. I don’t have another room. i only have 3 bdrooms.

When I had that situation I had a unique set up…Basically the one bed slipped under a corner table that gave us back the floor space. The beds were something like this http://bedzine.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/twin.jpg But you could push the one under the table.

Your other option is a daybed with a trundle but it;s a pain to pull in and out every single night.

Look in your local used furniture ads you can get one inexpensively.

We are military, and me and my son are about to move to el paso to meet my husband there when he gets back from Iraq. My son will be 22 months at the time of the move (march), and I plan on getting pregnant around June. He has a conversion crib, but we are not converting it because the new baby will need it so I figured he’ll just go straight to a regular bed. He and our new baby will probably have to share a room. Anyways, I have never done this before, and honestly it is kind of a big deal for me! When should I move my son into his big boy bed? I plan on getting twin bunk beds. Is there going to be a problem with a little boy trying to climb the ladder? Any advice would be great!
toddler beds are out of the question.

since a big move is coming up I would wait until he seems ready, or until after the move…when he is settles.
If he is happy in his crib- not climbing out. leave him… getting pregnant in June means you have until like next feb to adjust him to a bed.

And yes now or when the baby comes (at two and a half ) is too young to climb to the top of a bunk bed and never mind falling off. But by time the youngest would be out of the crib the oldest will be like 3 and half and might be able climb to the top (but get him bed rails). Join a freecycle community in el paso and ask for a toddler bed. Or instead of a toddler bed put him (when he is ready) on a box spring and mattress on the floor. so you are not wasting money!
