I live in Texas and I am trying to find out the limitations or laws about adults and children residing in the same bedroom. If the kids are on bunk beds and then the parents. Is there a law saying that is illegal?
I am sorry i ment to say the kids have bunkbeds and the parents have their own bed!
I don’t think there ARE laws. If so, just about every efficiency apartment in NYC would be in violation.

No, there is no law that kids need to sleep in a separate bedroom from their parents.

There is no law stating that your children can not sleep in the same room with you or even in your bed. At a certain age, they need to be in their own rooms and if they are not then it raises certain questions about their development and what is best for them. As far as rental properties, however, depending on the state it is illegal to rent to a family with children if there is only 1 bedroom. If you are looking to adopt you have to show that you have room for the child to have his/her own room. I can not imagine a situation where settin up other beds in the room for kids to be in the same room as the parents is a good idea for their development. It makes it difficult for them to have friends over and it it comes up at school it could be embarrassing for them. IF they are school age and they blurt out that they all stay in the same room and have only one bed room then the teacher may become concerned and get CPS to look at what is going on in the home or that the children’s needs are being met. Basically it is not a good idea. The family bed is one thing but at a certain age kids need to be in their own rooms.
