does your kids have a bunk bed?Are bunk beds safe?
We just got my son a bunk bed and my mom is freaking out – she says a lot of kids die from falling off, should I be worried? He is nine.
We also have a three year old and a two year old and a one year old but they have a different room(s).
i wouldn't worry about a 9 year old. at least i wouldn't worry about my 9 year old. if you have a little dare devil then you might be concerned that he might try jumping off or something like that and maybe breaking an arm or something. when we had our bunk beds up my 3 year old figured out how to climb to the top without the ladder, so i was a little worried about that and we took them down.

I've found that bunk beds have a rail on the top. I have them for my kids, and I have for a few years. They were 6 and 3 when I got them the bed. I haven't had one issue. The only thing I can suggest for added safety is if the ladder is all metal, get some foam to go around the bars of the ladder and glue them on. The metal can be slippery, and hurt their feet. At 9 he should be more than fine.
I had a set of bunk beds with my sister when I was younger. They were the wooden kind that came apart to make 2 single beds. Those I wouldn't recommend. It's nothing but a small dowel holding them together, with a little jumping on the top, or kicking the top one from the bottom, they can snap that dowel and come apart. lol My sis and I figured this out.

Have bunk beds.
I'm sorry, but I agree with your mother. Maybe he could use the top bunk for playing, but I wouldn't let him sleep up there because when you aren't conscious you might roll around or something. Age has nothing to do with it.
